Banana Bread

I made some banana bread at some point between feeding Mae and putting Mae down for nap. This recipe did the trick –> Banana Bread. #food

BACON WRAPPED SALMON DINNER

This evening we took the salmon we bought to feed Mae and wrapped it with some sunday bacon for dinner. 5 minutes on each side in a cast iron skillet and then popped into an oven thats been preheated to 375 for another 3-5 mins and voila!

We plated the bacon-salmon on a bed of white quinoa. Nuked some microwave-ready asparagus from fresh direct and combined everything on the plate. Finished the dish by dousing everything with lemon juice.

So freakin’ tasty and so quickly made!

SCRATCHbread New Year

Wait what happened to the end of 2011… I dunno. Laziness… So for the first amazing day of 2012 we took a walk to Bed-Stuy. On our walk we happened on to a line of people at a window of a building, so to get my adventurous badge of 2012 we went over there and got in line. Turns out the line was for fresh baked breads and goodies, we had stumbled upon SCRATCHbread!

I told Amanda to just get something sweet and a loaf of bread… She began her order with the hash with smoked salmon and a side of bacon, an oatmeal chuckie and a loaf of bourbon bread. Stunned, I quickly asked for the bacon, 3 thick slabs of bacon in wax paper wrapped in a bit of butcher paper, the bacon was thick and greasy bacon, with the layer of skin cooked crispy like a pork rind. The hash was quickly devoured by Amanda but with the last few bite I can tell you it was amazing. Finally after we got home I indulged in the oatmeal chunkie and bourbon bread, both so fresh and so tasty. If your ever in the area check them out but try to get there early, things have a way of selling out there.

A day with the Bodges

We met up with the Bodges for brunch at Brooklyn Star. With the new space we were confident bringing Mae in the stroller wasn’t going to be a problem. What a perfect spot.

Brunch starts at noon, so we hung out for a bit.

Some doughnuts as an appetizer. They were pretty awesome.

Oh and then the cinnamon bun for 2nd appetizer.

I had the chicken and waffles which ended up being half a chicken deep fried on top of waffles and a half a grilled grapefruit. Y-U-M.

We strolled through Williamsburg and ended up at smorgasburg for the rest of the day, running into the Faile prayer wheel, we needed to spin it a few times.

It all turned so quickly.

So we were in Jersey the weekend before Mother’s Day. Having a good time… when Amanda realized I was trying to get paparazzi shots of Mae!

Then there was screaming and alot of hand flailing.

“No Pictures, No Pictures!”

First Mother’s Day.

This Mother’s Day was Amanda’s first but also it was our 2nd Anniversary. Amanda snuck out early for a mani pedi and afterwards we ventured to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

We caught the tail end of the cherry blossoms, they were weeping as the wind was blowing…

Mae was loving it.

The Peony’s were in full bloom they are Amanda’s Favorite.

One of the first family photos we’ve been able to take courtesy of the timer setting and a well placed stroller.
